About Lisa

Curious. If I had to choose one word to describe myself, that would be it. I’m interested in finding out everything I can about the world and the beings in it.

I possess a broad base of professional and educational experience. I’ve worked in on-air television promotion, advertising, public relations, and academia. I hold a bachelor’s degree in communication, a master’s in Victorian literature, and another master’s in creative writing. I currently offer freelance-writing and video-production services.

The point that ties all those experiences together: writing.

Aside from spending time chatting with people to find what makes them tick, I most enjoy writing. I love mulling over new pieces in my mind, bringing the words to the page, seeing the stories come forward.

My work includes memoir, short stories, screenplays, stage plays. Working in different genres gives my creative process depth and texture.

Teaching college-level academic writing at Antioch University and coaching my private students brings together my love of writing and my interest in people. My students and I work together to develop their critical thinking skills as well as their writing abilities. I take great pleasure in seeing my students bloom into effective communicators.

One of the basic philosophies that I share with my students: Always carry a notebook and a pen. Story ideas happen when least expected. They’re what life’s made of.
